What Is Wrong With Society These Days?

   Well, we are closing in on the November election, and it’s going to be a big one! That’s for sure. So much is at stake. And what I find quite disturbing is how close the election is going to be because when you consider all the facts, let’s be frank, Kamala Harris should win by a landslide.
   Think about it. Consider the two candidates. The differences go way beyond variations in government philosophies. Donald Trump is a convicted felon who has proven time and time again how he takes lying to a whole new outrageously dangerous level. He lies to the point where many people would consider him a pathological liar. That’s how bad it is. He makes the most outrageous statements which are clearly false, yet millions of people continue to go along with it without holding him accountable. He’s facing multiple legal actions in addition to his felony convictions and continues making statements that are prejudiced and discriminatory in nature. He has openly ridiculed people with disabilities and has shown a dangerous predilection to favoring authoritarian style leaders.
   In addition to this, we’ve seen how the Republican Party in many ways has become very extreme in nature as it pushes for laws that are openly discriminatory towards the LGBTQ community and are trying to restrict female reproductive rights. Many Republicans even want a nationwide ban on abortion despite the fact that most Americans are pro-choice. We’ve also seen how Republicans around the country are trying to enact policies that make it more difficult for many Americans to vote, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the people who are often most affected by these actions tend to be minorities and folks who are more likely to vote for Democrats.
   So it’s incredible and extremely disturbing how so many Americans continue to support Trump and far right extremist Republicans. I think it’s a sad commentary on the state of our society these days, and it shows how millions of Americans are willing to be blind followers of an authoritarian style leader who lies outrageously instead of looking at things honestly, objectively, and clearly.
   For those of us who see the dangers of what is occurring, we need to speak out and make our voices heard. Try to educate people encouraging them to open their minds. And in the upcoming election, we need to unite behind Kamala Harris and vote as many Republicans out of office as possible.
   The future of our country depends on it.
