Republican War on the LGBTQ Community

4-3-26
What the hell is going on?! The Republican war against the LGBTQ community (especially against those who are transgender+) is way out of control and beyond vicious. Frankly, it’s cruel and malevolent.
   Don’t believe me? I’ll explain.
Republicans at the state and national levels are viciously attacking LGBTQ rights, especially for those who are transgender+. There has been a wave of horrendous anti-LGBTQ legislation flooding Republican controlled states around the nation. Kansas, for example, passed an outrageous law revoking the driver’s licenses of transgender individuals if their their licenses don’t show the gender as assigned at birth. This includes for individuals who have completed their transition process both medically and surgically. There are laws in multiple states that make it a criminal offense, which could include jail time, for transgender individuals who use public bathrooms that don’t align with their gender as assigned at birth. Again, this includes individuals who have completed their transition process. Multiple states have enacted horrible “don’t say gay laws” which severely restrict or even prohibit discussion of LGBTQ issues in classrooms, with Florida’s law extending this prohibition all the way through 12th grade. This has the effect of making LGBTQ students feel even more attacked, traumatized, and isolated so that the likelihood of suicide significantly increases.
And these are just a few examples. Multiple states have sunk to the level of even attacking drag performances.
   What the hell?!
It’s clear to me that much of the Republican Party has become twisted with vicious, ignorant prejudice and hate aimed at the LGBTQ community just because they see queer people as too different. And Republicans are especially showing severe bloodlust in their attacks against anything transgender+.  This is beyond outrageous and despicable. It’s a brutal attack upon the rights of entire communities. Republicans are passing laws that make it obvious that they don’t think LGBTQ people deserve the same rights that they take for granted. They want our rights restricted.
Think about that. They’re trying to take rights away from people just because they see those individuals is too different from themselves. And the effects go beyond taking rights away from people, which is bad enough. It worsens the quality of life of the LGBTQ community making LGBTQ people feel more isolated, alone, attacked, ostracized, and depressed so that the suicide rates of LGBTQ people noticeably increase.
Enough is enough! Things have gone way too far!
Everyone who is able (including those who are straight) needs to peacefully and clearly stand up and speak out against these malignant attacks against the LGBTQ community. Call out elected officials who are promoting these bigoted assaults. Talk to people and educate others. Share good, accurate information about what is going on. And vote! We must all vote in overwhelming numbers to defeat as many Republicans as possible in future elections!
The rights (and lives) of millions of people are at stake, and this is no exaggeration.
