Trump Administration Acting Authoritarian and Prejudiced

2-20-25
Well, the Trump administration is going full bore, and you know what: millions of people in the United States and around the world are absolutely horrified by what is happening because we’re seeing behavior that appears even more severely narcissistic, authoritarian, intolerant, and downright prejudiced than the last time Trump was president. Want some examples? Here you go:
He’s viciously attacking the transgender community. And I mean it’s vicious. He’s sunk so low as to declare that’s as far as the federal government is concerned, there are only two sexes: men and women. As part of this executive order, he has instructed the federal government to use the term sex instead of gender. I think a big reason why he’s instructing the term change is because scientists recognize that gender is a spectrum, and Trump is trying to make the transgender+ (transgender, non-binary, genderqueer, genderfluid, etc) community disappear. He’s working to create an environment where the federal government will not recognize transgender+ people. He’s also completely ignoring intersex individuals, those who were born having both male and female characteristics biologically. It’s absolutely disgraceful and beyond hurtful. It’s hateful, vengeful, and pure prejudice. Treating entire communities like they don’t matter or even exist is sickening and reeks of ignorance and blatant discriminatory bigotry. The administration has sunk so low that at The Stonewall National Monument in New York, all mention of transgender has been removed despite the fact that transgender people of color were a significant part of the events that transpired at Stonewall in 1969. They even removed the T from LGBT. Think about that. Really think about it. They’re trying to erase transgender+ people from history. This is a form of official ethnic cleansing, which is abhorrent and sickeningly barbaric. And there is no doubt that the Trump administration’s actions here worsen the suffering of transgender+ people and increase the likelihood of suicide.
Want another example? Here you go. He’s already made jokes about a third term and referred to himself as a king. According to the Constitution, individuals can only serve two terms as president. Any kind of third term would be unconstitutional and a form of tyranny. This country fought a war in the 1700s to do away with tyranny. Yet here he is making jokes about being a dictator. And we’ve seen in the past the way he will make jokes about things that deep down he seems serious about, possibly trying to test the waters to see what kind of response he’d get if he tried to go for it for real.
Now consider how Donald Trump has Elon Musk and Musk’s small team, people who don’t seem to have experience with government and how governments work, ripping through government agencies accessing sensitive information, including Americans’ social security numbers, and forcing nonpartisan government workers out right and left. Musk and his team have not been approved by Congress and, as far as I can tell, have not been properly vetted for proper security clearances. Many legal experts feel that these actions are unconstitutional in addition to being extremely dangerous from a national security standpoint and a functional standpoint. Think about it. You’ve got a small team, most of whom are in their twenties and have no government experience, running through making huge decisions on issues they know little to nothing about. They don’t have experience on how government agencies need to work. Here’s an example. They fired workers who were key in managing radioactive nuclear waste sites. Once there was an outcry about this dangerously stupid action, they had to backtrack on that one. It’s a safe bet the actions of Musk and his team are going to lead to all sorts of increased governmental dysfunction as well as national security problems in the future. For instance, at national parks, despite the fact that it’s winter, they’re already seeing long lines and confusion due to the fact that they’re now grossly understaffed because of Elon Musk’s actions.
We’re going through a very dangerous time in the history of this nation. And it’s the opinion of me and millions of others here and around the world that there is a real danger that the United States could fall into an authoritarian autocracy and cease to be a true democracy. This makes it that much more important for everyone who sees the danger to speak out and make our voices heard, standing up for what’s right and demanding our elected officials stand against the Trump administration’s outrageous, prejudiced, authoritarian autocratic behavior.
